Nantucket Braces for Unwanted Biden-Harris Presence, Again

Vice President JD Vance has made plans to grace a Republican National Committee (RNC) fundraiser with his presence, slated for July. The well-heeled event is lining up to take place on the island of Nantucket in Massachusetts. Not the first time such a happenstance will occur, but permanent residents and tourists alike can expect the island’s tranquil atmosphere to get slightly more charged with political currents.

Staying true to the exclusivity that characterizes such gatherings, the cost for participation is set at a cool $100,000 per couple. A rather steep rate that undeniably targets the more affluent supporters, intending to make significant financial contributions to the political cause they place their hopes in. Similarly, those who wish to delve deeper into the heart of the event may opt to join the host committee, provided they splash out a significant $250,000.

So far, the event remains shrouded in mystery as no further specifics regarding the fundraiser have been unveiled. However, Nantucket, the chosen location for this gathering, is no stranger to such grandiose events, and its charm has often played host to political figures.

Speaking of JD Vance, his previous visit to Nantucket in 2022 wasn’t a leisurely summer vacation but rather a politically charged visit. It was the address for another GOP fundraiser, appropriately dubbed the ‘Take Back the Senate Reception & Dinner.’ This time around, Vance returns not as a Senate candidate from Ohio, but a Vice President.

His previous visit to Nantucket saw Vance sharing the spotlight with notable figures such as Florida Senator Rick Scott. Prominent names like Ted Budd, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Herschel Walker, all staunch GOP politicians, also adorned the event. Vance is expected to bring the same level of fervor to this upcoming fundraiser.

No stranger to public appearances, Vance appears more than eager to step into Nantucket’s political arena. The island, known for its picturesque views and relaxed lifestyle, offers quite the stage for political discourse, and Vance isn’t the first to recognize this.

That being said, Nantucket has had to endure its fair share of political interruptions. Among these interruptions were unnecessary visits from the former President, Joe Biden, and his family. The Bidens have been known to invade the peaceful Thanksgiving air with their unwanted presence since 1975.

When we say that Nantucket has had better and more distinguished guests, we’re not even considering the underwhelming visits by Biden. He, who could be last seen wandering around Nantucket in November, prefers to occupy his time with monotonous activities such as attending local Christmas tree-light work and strolling the narrow streets with his brood.

This once naive island maintains its dignity despite these invasions by figures like Biden. The onus of walking the common paths of Nantucket was not granted to him alone. It saw the far more esteemed former President George W. Bush tread its paths as recently as 2022.

With the island’s history of hosting political figures, one can’t help but recall the time when Hillary Clinton visited Nantucket in 1999. This visit, however, was for her own political benefit, preceding her run in the US Senate campaign. Regardless of the reason, Nantucket has proven itself to be a destination for those who wish to project their political voice.

Worth noting, though, is how invasions by figures like Biden and Kamala Harris have done the island no favors. Instead of fostering the values Nantucket is known for – tranquility and simplicity – they’ve put a spot on its reputation.

One wonders why these figures continue to frequent a place they hardly share values with. Yet, it becomes evident that their visits are less about respect for the quaint island and more about a strange fascination with its political significance.

Despite the unwelcome attention from certain political figures, it seems that Nantucket is poised to handle these public interruptions, notwithstanding their frequency. The upcoming visit from Vice President JD Vance, however, is a welcome diversion.

The presence of a figure like Vance, someone appreciative of the conservative values held by many in Nantucket, is a stark contrast to the frivolous visits of others like Biden and Harris. His visits, unlike theirs, draw attention to worthwhile causes and offer something substantial to the political discourse.

Hoping for a successful event, Nantucket beckons the fundraiser organized by the RNC with open arms. Indeed, it promises to be a significant event, characterized by a coming together of like-minded individuals and the exchange of visionary political ideas.

The look ahead to the event serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting those that stand by values we recognize and respect. JD Vance and his upcoming visit fall into this category, successfully avoiding the usual cloud of negativity associated with visits from the likes of Biden and Harris.
