Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the world is nearing the end of the war in Gaza and praised President Donald Trump for restoring American leadership on the global stage.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro on Monday, Netanyahu credited Trump with bringing both resolve and results during a critical period in world affairs.
“Right now, the liberty of the world, the security of the world, is dependent on the strength of the United States,” Netanyahu said. “What President Trump has done, in a very short time, is bring America back to the driver seat in world affairs. That’s very important, because we all depend on America’s strength and America’s resolve.”
The Israeli leader sat down with Shapiro in Jerusalem ahead of the upcoming two-year anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack. While Israel’s campaign against Hamas is not yet finished, Netanyahu said they are “close to the end of the war” and gave Trump full credit for brokering the global ceasefire effort now underway.
Shapiro, who called Trump “the most pro-Israel president in U.S. history,” highlighted the former president’s influence in getting regional and international actors to the negotiating table. Hamas has recently agreed to major terms of Trump’s 20-point peace deal, including hostage releases, marking a potential turning point in the conflict.
Netanyahu reaffirmed the importance of Israel’s partnership with the United States, noting that while Israel is the “junior partner,” the relationship is mutually beneficial.
“‘America First’ doesn’t mean America alone,” he said. “Superpowers need allies. And unlike many of America’s other allies, Israel pulls its weight.”
The prime minister pointed to the success of the joint U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran, known as the “12-Day War,” as a defining example of shared strength. The operation saw coordinated Israeli strikes on Iranian military positions, followed by a decisive U.S. B-2 bomber and Tomahawk missile attack that neutralized key Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
“We just knocked out Iran,” Netanyahu said. “With President Trump’s very judicious and pointed assistance… We had exactly the right alliance in which we shared the labor, and we achieved this neutralization of Iran. It didn’t start World War 3.”
Netanyahu also praised the technological and defense cooperation between the two countries. He cited Israel’s Iron Dome and Arrow missile defense systems, as well as the Trophy tank protection system, all of which have been shared with U.S. forces.
And while the public is aware of Israel’s defensive contributions, Netanyahu said America has also benefited from Israeli offensive weapons tech — some of which he claimed even superpowers haven’t developed yet.
“We share it with America, but I can’t share it with you,” he joked. “That’s very important because, you know, you have to be strong. Everybody understands that. That’s what President Trump says, and he says it correctly: peace through strength.”
As the second anniversary of the October 7 massacre approaches, Netanyahu reflected on the resilience of the Israeli people.
“We rose from the ashes,” he said. “From the pit of despair, we’ve become again the dominant power in the Middle East, perhaps stronger than we were before. That’s something we can give thanks for.”
