A recent publication delving into the unimpressive presidential venture of Vice President Harris has reopened wounds within the Democratic party. Biden’s deteriorating performance in the spring of 2024, during a period of intense deliberation within party seniors on possible replacements, set alarms ringing. Among the alarmed was former President Obama, who decidedly objected to the idea of Harris as the presidential candidate.
The book asserts that Obama, the 44th president, instead hoped for the party to nominate Michigan’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer, with the VP seat going to Maryland’s governor, Wes Moore. These preferences highlight the reluctance towards Harris which was not confined to Biden’s camp.
