Police Chief Jessica Tisch Sheds Light on NYC Issues

During a public gathering on Saturday, Police Chief Jessica Tisch refrained from revealing any aspirations for a mayoral run four years down the line. Eschewing any political labels, Tisch, aged 44, emphasized, ‘I am not a politician, instead, I am a servant of the public.’ This line was met with enthusiastic applause from her roughly 100-strong audience at the popular Southampton venue, 75 Main, according to one attendee who described the scene as ‘highly spirited.’

According to the attendee’s account, there was a general consensus that Tisch has been doing an exemplary job at the helm of the city’s police department. Introduced by the city’s First Deputy Mayor, Randy Mastro, Tisch addressed the crowd for approximately half an hour. Her speech encompassed a myriad of topics that are at the forefront of urban life in the city.

‘The idea of President Trump deploying the National Guard or troops to oversee New York City – I am unequivocally against it,’ Tisch shared during her talk. She confidently highlighted the city’s current record low rates of violent crime and pointed specifically to the decrease in the murder rate this year, among other metrics, in support of her stance.

Tisch proclaimed, ‘New York City’s police department is second to none, with the most comprehensive training.’ She took this moment to put light on the anti-Israel rallies taking place within the city, which she found ‘appalling and deplorable.’ Nevertheless, she affirmed the department’s commitment to uphold ‘freedom of speech’ rights.

She expressed how her role as police commissioner was one that she held close to her heart, similar to the sense of fulfillment she experienced during her previous tenure as the city’s sanitation commissioner. She reminisced about her proactive role in implementing measures geared to enhance the cleanliness of the city during her stint there.

Among the estimated 100 participants at the event, many were ardent supporters of the former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Eric Adams. Notably, the majority were considering the leading Democratic candidate, Zohran Mamdani. The same source indicated, ‘There’s a struggle to devise a strategy for engaging with Mamdani.’

These breakfast gatherings are the brainchild of WABC radio proprietor and business magnate, John Catsimatidis. Notably present at the occasion was also Jessica Tisch’s father, James Tisch.
