Just two months after openly criticizing the inclusion of a same-sex kiss in Disney’s Lightyear, Snoop Dogg is now facing backlash from conservative fans for what many see as a stunning reversal.
The 53-year-old rapper, legal name Calvin Broadus Jr., has released a new children’s song titled Love Is Love in collaboration with GLAAD — the prominent LGBT advocacy organization — as part of his animated YouTube series Doggyland. The episode was timed to promote “Spirit Day,” a GLAAD campaign aimed at supporting LGBT youth.
In the song, cartoon dog characters voiced by Snoop and The Voice contestant Jeremy Beloate celebrate diverse families, singing:
“Our parents are different / No two are the same / But the one thing that’s for certain is the love won’t change.”
Snoop, who just weeks ago said he was “thrown for a loop” after having to explain a lesbian relationship to his grandson in a children’s movie, now says his goal is to bring “understanding” through music.
“This is a program we’ve been doing for years where we involve kids,” Snoop told GLAAD in an interview promoting the episode. “These are things that kids have questions about so now hopefully we can help answer these questions and help them to live a happy life and understand that love is love.”
Snoop added, “It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks and be shown love, to be taught what love is… whether it be two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key.”
The pivot comes as a shock to many, considering Snoop’s viral comments in August, where he expressed discomfort after a same-sex parenting scene in Lightyear left his grandson confused.
“They just said, she and she had a baby … they’re both women. How does she have a baby?” he recalled his grandson asking. “It f*ed me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh that I don’t have an answer for.”
Following that outburst, Snoop faced criticism from left-leaning activists and accusations of aligning with conservatives — especially given his past Trump-world appearances and refusal to issue a formal apology for the remarks.
Now, by pairing with GLAAD on a high-profile LGBT campaign targeting children, critics say he’s trying to win back favor with the entertainment industry and progressive fans — but at what cost?
For many longtime followers, Snoop’s latest move isn’t just a contradiction, it’s a betrayal. Some argue the rapper has gone from raising legitimate concerns about parental rights and childhood innocence to actively promoting progressive gender ideology to children — all in less than 60 days.
Whether it’s an authentic evolution or a calculated PR maneuver, one thing’s certain: the “Doggfather” just walked straight into the culture war crossfire — again.
