South Korean FTC investigates e-commerce giants TMON and WeMakePrice

South Korea is recognized for having one of the most substantial e-commerce markets globally, albeit a potentially unstable one. On a recent Thursday, the national Fair Trade Commission revealed that it had begun probing into two prominent e-commerce platforms under Qoo10’s ownership — Ticketmonster (TMON) and WeMakePrice. The investigation was provoked by reports of these platforms’ failure to disburse funds to their merchants. Additionally, South Korean banking institutions have temporarily discontinued loan services to TMON and WeMakePrice in light of payment postponements, as reported by local news agencies.

The critical role satellites play in our daily lives cannot be overstated, from enabling GPS connectivity to coordinating disaster response. However, their remote nature makes them susceptible to technical complications and potential attacks. Instead of constructing an entire spacecraft internally like its competitors, Lodestar is choosing a different path.

In the realm of lithium-ion batteries, the notion of the ‘race to the bottom’ carries a different connotation. A startup named Addionics believes that the answer to optimizing these batteries may lay in a typically overlooked component—the foil current collector. As it stands, current collectors mirroring the function and form of everyday kitchen aluminum foil are in use. These integral parts capture electrons from the active materials, the components responsible for ion storage and power generation.
