U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, commonly known as ICE, has recently publicized the detainment of an individual situated on Staten Island known to be facing accusations related to sexual offense incidents, reportedly taken place in Queens. The individual in question, Ulugbek Davronov, a 21-year-old native of Uzbekistan, was captured in the aforementioned borough on April 28, as per ICE’s official press statement.
In accordance with the declaration, Davronov is believed to be a resident of Oberlin Street located in the neighborhood of South Beach, an insight provided by an informed source actively involved with the ongoing probe.
The successful operation leading to Davronov’s apprehension was carried out by a coordinated team composed of the New York City Fugitive Operations officers along with specialists from Homeland Security Investigations. This conjoined effort was crucial in carrying out the targeted operation seamlessly, as per the details shared in the press statement.
An encounter with Davronov by U.S. Border Patrol officials is regarded as significant in this case. The encounter occurred near Lukeville, Arizona, on December 28, 2022. It is alleged that Davronov had illicitly crossed the border into the United States from Mexico, as detailed in the press statement.
Subsequent to the Arizona encounter, Davronov was detained by Border Patrol authorities who triggered removal procedures against him. The immigration proceedings culminated with a judge issuing an order for Davronov’s removal in absentia from the United States, dated July 28, 2023.
The press statement, in coordination with public documents, reveals that Davronov was taken into custody on the 19th of February, initially processed in the 112th Precinct based in Queens.
On the day of Davronov’s arrest in February, ICE New York City identified him as a criminal alien who was eligible for removal. The agency subsequently lodged an immigration detainer with Queens Central Booking on the very same day, as elaborated in the recent press statement.
However, despite ICE’s immigration detainer request, the Queens County Central Booking released Davronov the following day. This action was carried out without honoring ICE’s request or informing them about Davronov’s release, causing significant concern among ICE officials.
Following this, Davronov was brought before the state Criminal Court in Queens on February 20, where he firmly declared his innocence against an array of charges. Among these serious allegations were rape in the third degree, sexual abuse in the third degree, attempted assault in the third degree, and sexual misconduct.
As per the ruling, Davronov was granted release on non-monetary conditions. His case is scheduled for a follow-up hearing in the Criminal Court in Queens, with the proposed date being May 22, based on publicly accessible records.
As with most legal proceedings, prompt responses are expected from the defense. However, as of the recent updates, there has been no immediate response to a request for commentary from a lawyer representing Davronov. This places further emphasis on the anticipation surrounding the upcoming court hearing.
In a separate but related event, another person from Staten Island, unconnected to Davronov’s case, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking and being involved in an altercation with the police, following a knife incident.
Further adding to recent tensions, the NYPD reports that an 18-year-old gun suspect from Staten Island managed to evade law enforcement by shoving an officer and shedding his hoodie in a desperate bid to escape capture.
