Teenage Crime Spree Shakes Lyons Falls in New York

LYONS FALLS, located in New York, has recently been the center for a serious crime incident. The State Police of New York, in conjunction with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, have apprehended two young suspects. The offenders, who are merely aged 13 and 15, reportedly undertook a series of illegal activities leading to their arrest.

The charges against the young individuals are indeed severe and diverse. It has been reported that the charges include a number of burglaries, specifically the unlawful acquisition of two firearms and the theft of a motor vehicle. This spate of alleged criminal activities appear to have occurred within a small window of time between March 17 and 19.

The geographical locations in reference for these offenses are the Port Leyden and Lyons Falls regions within Lewis County. It seems this small region was significantly impacted by the purported actions of the teenagers, according to information provided by law enforcement officials.

Charges applied against each teenager are not limited to small offenses. Each has been alleged with three counts of grand larceny, a seriously appalling felony. Additionally, seven instances of petit larceny have been attributed to them – an offense minor in nature, but undeniably still a crime.

But the charges do not cease there. Two further felony counts have been laid against the teenagers for burglary. This was added to the two counts of felony criminal possession of stolen property that they were already charged with, indicating that the teens allegedly were in possession of stolen items.

On top of the aforementioned crimes, there is an additional charge. One count of misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon has been billed against them. Though being a less severe crime classification, it is of concern considered the age of the culprits.

Details from the investigation have provided some insight into how this alleged crime spree unfolded. Accordingly, the young suspects exploited multiple vulnerabilities available to them, including the ease of access to unlocked vehicles parked near residences during the midnight to dawn hours.

Not only did the teenagers allegedly avail themselves of items inside these unlocked vehicles, but they have also been implicated in some bigger offenses. Law enforcement officials shared that the teenagers are suspected to have penetrated several storage units at Shue Box Storage facility along St. Rt. 12 in Port Leyden.

The series of crimes purportedly did not stop with vehicles or storage units. The teenagers are suspected of successfully stealing a vehicle from a private residence located in Port Leyden. This major criminal act compounds what was already a worrying series of misdemeanors.

Following their alleged car theft, there seems to have been an incident that further complicated matters for the young suspects. Apparently, the stolen vehicle was involved in a rollover accident along St. Rt. 12, specifically in Martinsburg. This must have undoubtedly escalated the gravity of the situation.

Although it is unclear whether the rollover crash was due to reckless driving or other factors, what stands out is what transpired next. Reports pinpoint that the teenagers were not found at the accident scene when authorities arrived, suggesting they had taken off prior to the arrival of the police officers.

Legal documents have been served to the teenagers following their alleged crimes. The course of action following the charges consists of releasing appearance tickets to both teens. These tickets are necessary for their appearance in family court, where their case is expected to presided over.
