He proceeded to reel off a series of dramatically disparate numbers to highlight the gulf between his rallies and those of the Democratic candidate. ‘There were 25,000 in Michigan, between 20,000 to 25,000 in Harrisburg, 88,000 in South Carolina, and even 68,000 in Alabama,’ he declared. These eye-watering numbers make Harris’s claim of amassing 12,000 followers at her Wisconsin rally seem pitiful if not outright laughable in comparison.
Trump seemed rather perturbed by the media’s chronic disregard for the overwhelming masses at his rallies. ‘Harris’s gatherings aren’t even one-tenth, no, one-twentieth, heck not even one-thirtieth the size of mine. Yet, it’s her rallies they label as massive.’ The former President suggested flipping cameras around to truly capture his rallies’ enormity, basically putting the mainstream narrative to shame.
Not one to mince his words, Trump made it quite clear that he finds Harris’s capabilities, or rather the lack thereof, questionable. He made light of the temporary surge in her popularity, stating that it would fizzle out soon after her ‘honeymoon phase.’ Trump has always been known for his brutal frankness and this occasion was no exception.
Drawing attention to his rally at Washington held on Jan 6, 2021, just moments before the unfortunate incident at the U.S Capitol, Trump said, ‘That day, I addressed the maximum number of people I ever have.’ His remark highlighted the narrow, skewed media narrative that focuses on minor incidents rather than the broader context.
It’s almost impossible to see the authentic extent of the multitude at the rally that Trump refers to. Media outlets focus on pictures reflecting a handful of people proceeding to the Capitol, part of a bigger, misrepresented narrative. ‘I’ve had the privilege of voicing my thoughts to the most massive gatherings, none can compare,’ the former President asserted.
The truth bias can be evidenced in a comparison between Trump’s rallies and monumental public gatherings from history. Trump has, in the past, compared his rally sizes to Martin Luther King Jr.’s renowned March on Washington. ‘The expanse covered and audience sizes were similar if not exceeded during my rallies,’ he states.
He elaborates, ‘MLK’s acclaimed speech attracted about a million followers, a figure no different from my own.’ However, in this distortion of facts, Trump questions, ‘How come they only credit me with 25,000 attendees?’ This could be chalked up to the media’s consistent agenda against him.
Trump had previously made a similar comparison regarding the number of attendees at his 2020 Independence Day speech. It was when he intriguingly drew parallels with the crowd that MLK’s historic ‘I Have a Dream’ address garnered.
In an oddly complacent mood, Trump affirmed that he doesn’t take extreme umbrage to being under-credited. He candidly admitted, ‘I don’t mind, because I’ve always appreciated Dr. Martin Luther King.’ However, his audience size’s underrepresentation does shine a light on the twisted lens through which the mainstream media likes to view his endeavors.

This discourse underscores the urgent need for transparency and unprejudiced reporting in the media landscape. Only then could genuine public sentiment be gauged and accurately represented. Until then, this grotesque distortion of facts would be relegated to the realm of partisan politics.
