Trump DOJ Strips Hamas-Linked UN Agency Of Immunity For October 7 Massacre

President Donald Trump’s Justice Department has officially revoked the legal immunity of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), marking a bold escalation in the administration’s efforts to hold Hamas and its enablers accountable for the October 7 terror attacks on Israel.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the move in a forceful statement, declaring that the United States will no longer shield any international organization that harbors or supports terrorists. “The barbaric Hamas terrorists will not win — and there will be consequences,” Bondi said. “If you aided or abetted the slaughter of innocents on October 7, we’re coming for you.”

UNRWA, long criticized for fostering anti-Israel sentiment and employing individuals with extremist ties, came under renewed scrutiny after intelligence reports and eyewitness accounts revealed that several of its employees directly participated in the October 7 massacre. That attack, orchestrated by Hamas, left over 1,200 dead — including 47 Americans — and triggered Israel’s military response in Gaza.

Despite mounting evidence of UNRWA’s complicity, the Biden administration funneled over $120 million to the agency after the attack — a sharp reversal from Trump’s first term, during which he cut off all U.S. funding to the organization. Now, with Trump back in office, his administration is not just cutting ties — it’s taking legal aim.

The Justice Department has launched a new “Joint Task Force October 7,” designed to investigate and prosecute those involved in the attack, including individuals and entities operating on U.S. soil. The task force will focus on terror financing, material support to foreign terrorist organizations, and civil rights violations stemming from antisemitic violence and intimidation.

By stripping UNRWA of its diplomatic immunity, the Trump administration has opened the door for civil and criminal lawsuits against the agency in American courts. Victims of the October 7 attack — including the families of Americans killed — may now seek justice through the U.S. legal system, free from the protections that previously shielded UNRWA from accountability.

“This isn’t just about one agency,” said a senior DOJ official. “It’s about sending a message to the entire international community: If you support terror, you will not operate with impunity in the United States.”

Pro-Israel organizations and national security experts have applauded the move, calling it a long-overdue step toward dismantling the global infrastructure that props up Hamas. Critics argue that UNRWA has, for decades, functioned as little more than a political weapon used against Israel, funded by Western governments under the false pretense of humanitarian aid.

With this latest action, the Trump administration is reaffirming its commitment to defending American interests, standing with Israel, and confronting the radical networks that threaten both nations.

The Trump DOJ has reversed the Biden admin’s position and made it clear that UNRWA and its employees are not entitled to immunity for their atrocious terroristic conduct.
