President Donald Trump delivered a stern ultimatum to the Hamas terror group on Sunday, demanding the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza or face serious consequences.
In a post on Truth Social, the president made clear that the window for Hamas to comply is closing fast: “Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”
Trump had already issued a similar warning on Friday, suggesting that while roughly 20 hostages are believed to still be alive, there is growing concern that some may have died in captivity. “It’s 20 people but I think of the 20 there could be some that have recently died is what I’m hearing. I hope that’s wrong,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “We know that at least 30 people are dead, and we are negotiating to get them out.”
The president noted that negotiating their release would require substantial concessions, saying, “When you get down to the final 10 or 20, you’re not gonna get them out unless you’re gonna do a lot and doing a lot means capitulation.”
The renewed pressure from the Trump administration comes as Israel intensifies its military campaign in Gaza. On Saturday, IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee issued a warning to civilians in Gaza City ahead of planned strikes: “The Defense Army will attack the building soon due to the presence of Hamas terrorist infrastructure inside or near it. For your safety, you are required to evacuate building immediately southward toward the humanitarian zone in Mawasi Khan Younis.”
This warning followed the release of disturbing new hostage footage by Hamas. The video, aired late last week, featured hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal pleading for his life in August, along with earlier footage of Alon Ohel taken on the day of the October 7, 2023 attack. The footage has sparked outrage in Israel and prompted renewed global scrutiny over Hamas’ treatment of captives.
With tensions escalating, President Trump’s warning appears to set the stage for a possible U.S. military or diplomatic response if Hamas fails to release the remaining hostages. For now, the world waits to see if the terror group heeds what Trump called his “last warning.”
