Trump’s Trade Successes: Refuting Predictions of Economic Upheaval

In some career fields, one can see a considerable amount of inaccuracy and yet keep their position intact. One apparent example seems to be the role of a Democrat. When a Democrat resides in the White House, deflective maneuvers and misleading reports often obscure the veracity. However, with Donald Trump at the helm of the nation, truths manage to consistently puncture ideological postures of the American Left, such as Trump’s stance on tariffs.

For instance, self-proclaimed ‘experts’ forecasted that tariffs would lead to severe international disputes and ballooning inflation. However, these apprehensions were proven misplaced. Compared to rhetoric, reality showed that nations faced with increased import tariffs have tended towards negotiation of updated trade agreements instead of inciting major incidents. As for inflation, a parameter that escalated noticeably under Biden’s tenure, reversed its course to a four-year low this summer, dropping predictions of its surge into oblivion.

Talking about Trump’s strides in trade and the economy, we cannot overlook the revenue brought in by his tariffs. A whooping $29.6 billion was accumulated in July alone. If we tread back to the fiscal year of 2025, commencing from October of the previous year to present, it gets even higher – an estimated total of $156.4 billion.

Switching gears, the Democrats’ stance on immigration has also been brought into question. They asserted that the border during Biden’s term was ‘secure’, counterargued any possibility of eradicating illegal border crossings without Congressional action, and denied any dangers posed to American citizens by unauthorized immigrants. Unfortunately, all these claims turned out to be incorrect.

In response to this, Trump’s decision to close the southern border and enforce immigration laws, coupled with arresting and deporting those who commit crimes in the United States, had quite the impact. By July 2025, the numbers showed the lowest count of illegal border crossings in the history of Customs and Border Protection. Additionally, not a single illegal immigrant was released into the country for three continuous months. Roughly 100,000 illegal migrants were deported, while an approximate million chose to self-deport.

The clampdown on illegal immigration extends beyond closing borders and enforcing laws. It hints at broader issues such as association with job losses and violent crimes, and has even been linked to drug and human trafficking. These challenges weave into the public narrative bringing new complications under the spotlight.

A case in point, Harjinder Singh, an unauthorized immigrant from India, who was granted a commercial driver’s license in California, despite failing the required English proficiency test. His failure to comprehend road rules transpired tragically, causing a lethal accident on the Florida turnpike. Subsequently, he was apprehended and charged with three counts of vehicular homicide, leaving Americans questioning why an illegal immigrant was permitted a CDL in the first place.

The Democrat’s stance is not only criticized internally, but also their perception of President Trump’s foreign policy is called into question. Their cry that Trump would cause destructive wars contradicts the reality of Trump playing an active role in resolving global conflicts. He has brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, settled a territorial dispute between Cambodia and Thailand, secured a commitment for a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and facilitated meetings between leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo resulting in a peace accord.

More recently, Trump invited Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to Alaska aiming to end the gruesome war between Russia and Ukraine. Subsequently, in a few days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Trump at the White House. Alongside him were British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The assembly was described as ‘historic’ and a ‘rare display of trans-Atlantic unity’ by several media outlets, even those often critical of Trump.

Despite Trump’s resilience in concluding the Israel-Hamas conflict that has spanned over two years, it proves to be more convoluted than the Russian-Ukrainian war. Critics have voiced skepticism about His earlier visions about transforming Gaza into a Mediterranean resort area, and have pointed out the fragility of such conflict resolutions.

However, critics often overlook key elements. Firstly, any agreement between nations with long-standing conflicts is anticipated to be delicate initially. Secondly, Trump is leveraging his influence to strive for peace, an intent that should be lauded. Should it not be more desirable to have a leader fostering entrepreneurship, economic growth and job creation as opposed to endorsing ‘nation-building’ involving covert operations?

It seems to be clear that not only are the Democrats misconstruing many of Trump’s policy drives but they are fully aware of these discrepancies. They appear to be without a relatable economic message and lean towards safeguarding the interests of illegal immigrants and criminals more than American citizens, a sentiment that has raised many eyebrows.

Long-standing Democratic strategist, James Carville, made an appearance on Jesse Watters’ show on Fox News recently. Carville, usually an eloquent speaker, seemed at a loss and was unable to answer any questions posed to him including those about why prominent Democratic Party politicians have evaded appearing on Bill Maher’s popular talk show.

Instead, Carville proffered bromides about how the Democrats would clean up in 2026 and promising a strong presidential candidate for 2028. However, he was conspicuously silent on the specifics of how and who these victories would be attributed to.

The lack of a clear explanation or advocacy by seasoned strategists like Carville for the bleak state of the Democratic Party or their official policy positions should raise serious questions for the electorate.

As it turns out, the country need much more than empty optimism. The Democrats need robust evidence-based policy drives and genuine concern for American citizens if they wish to alter their perceived image and regain their footing.
