During his tenure at Fox News, Tucker Carlson’s antics reached a level that suggested he couldn’t possibly become more outrageous. However, upon parting ways with the network to strike out on his own, Carlson has continually pushed the envelope. An unforgettable instance includes a conversation with Roseanne, where he patiently listened as she opined that Democrats are baby-eating, literal blood-sipping vampires.
In a recent broadcast, he invited Lee Strobel, who transitioned from being a Chicago Tribune reporter and professed atheist to a dedicated believer. They embarked on a broad-ranging dialogue that encompassed topics like guardian angels, demons, speaking in supernatural languages, ghostly apparitions, and interestingly, the popular television show ‘Friends’ in the context of the year 2025.
Strobel offered an explanation on why they discussed ‘Friends’. In his view, ‘Friends’ was merely an instrument utilized by pernicious entities to lead people astray into conduct considered immoral, such as indulging in sex before marriage. This concept was presented and elucidated during their talk with the help of Mediaite.
Strobel hypothesized: “If harmful entities were cunning — which they undeniably are — would they painstakingly go around the planet harassing ordinary folks? Instead, it would be far more productive to infiltrate Hollywood and sway a significant number of influential individuals there, specifically within the entertainment industry.”
He added a conjecture that these entities likely incite these Hollywood figures to develop films and TV shows that, while entertaining and amusing, subtly relay a message promoting and normalizing iniquity. Here, Strobel alluded to ‘Friends’, which aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004, as an ideal example of such a show.
According to Strobel, ‘Friends’ casually validated engaging in relations with multiple partners, amongst other activities. This, he believed, was in line with the agenda propagated by these harmful forces that desired to insert them into American culture.
He highlighted one of the show’s characters, Monica Geller (portrayed by Courteney Cox), who often exhibited intimate interactions with other characters after a single date. To Strobel, it appeared to be an unnecessary exertion for what he believed was a fairly lackluster outcome.
In an attempt to explore further, I reached out to a confirmed ‘Friends’ aficionado. After mulling over it for a moment, this individual reminded me that Jon Lovitz made guest appearances on the show not once, but twice, taking on the role of a restaurant reviewer who indulged in the consumption of what some refer to as ‘The Devil’s Lettuce’.
Regrettably, in recent times, Lovitz appears to have traded his comic talent for controversial political alignments, which is an alarming trend we’ve repeatedly witnessed. Nevertheless, it’s crucial to clarify that this unusual ‘Friends’ conspiracy theory isn’t a singular phenomenon.
There exists another hypothesis suggesting that ‘Friends’ is nothing but the hallucinatory daydreams of a destitute Phoebe sketched out while she squints through the glass pane of Central Perk. Alternatively, there’s also a theory that posits ‘Friends’ shares the same universe as ‘Parks and Rec’, with Rachel having dated Ben Wyatt.
Intriguingly, both these theories seem slightly more credible than the theory of vile forces orchestrating the show to entice people into intimate relations on their first dates. It’s essential to underline that these are, after all, just theories, which, while fascinating, gravitate to the realms of the implausible and absurd at times.
