Tucker Carlson Casts Doubt on Buttigieg’s Sexuality, Ignites Controversy

Right-leaning commentator Tucker Carlson raised eyebrows with audacious claims concerning Pete Buttigieg’s sexual orientation. It appears to be part of his dining room discussions, as he has, not for the first time, claimed that the Indiana Democrat is not gay. This was something he had first professed in 2020, now finding its reiteration in his podcast conversation with Michael Knowles, another conservative political voice.

Carlson’s statement came during a casual exchange about numerous topics on his podcast. Whilst Pete Buttigieg’s name found its way into the conversation, Carlson’s immediate reaction was to label him as ‘The artificial gay guy.’ One could argue that such comments are a reflection of his firm belief, given that he has a track of repeating this claim.

To add more intrigue, Carlson mentioned, ‘My homosexual producer all the time quips, ‘he isn’t gay.’ He was literally being romantic with a female just half an hour ago and now he’s eyeing the Democratic nomination. It appears to be the right time for a gay guy.’ It’s speculated that this could be a subtle reference to Buttigieg’s dating history during his college years.

Carlson seemed eager to get Buttigieg on his show, claiming he’s armed with a set of specific questions related to gay sex to see whether the Democrat could answer them. He demonstrated skepticism over Buttigieg’s knowledge in this area, adding to his suspicion about the latter’s orientation.

This conservative media personality’s skepticism about Buttigieg’s sexuality seems even further detached from reality given the known facts. Pete Buttigieg publicly announced his homosexuality in the year 2015, a major step in both his personal and political life. One must question the merit of Carlson’s comments when posed against such known facts.

Pete Buttigieg didn’t just simply make a public declaration about his sexuality, he pursued a relationship too. Shortly after coming out, he met Chasten, the love of his life, on a popular dating app. Their initial chemistry could be traced back to their shared fondness for Scotch eggs, savored in a local pub in South Bend, Indiana.

The relationship proved to be more than an ephemeral spark. The pair tied the knot in a ceremony in June 2018, marking three years since they first connected on Hinge. The doubts cast by Carlson seem bizarre when contrasted with Buttigieg’s openly gay lifestyle.

Adding more solid evidence against Carlson’s claims, Buttigieg and his partner expanded their family in 2021. Embracing parenthood, the couple adopted twins, Penelope and Joseph. The move, just another step in their shared journey, directly contradicts Carlson’s repeated assertion about Buttigieg not being gay.

Carlson’s skepticism isn’t limited to Buttigieg, though. He has previously declared that Kamala Harris’ former running mate, Tim Walz, appears ‘extremely, extremely gay.’ Despite this, his stance regarding Buttigieg’s sexuality contradicts itself, as shown in his critique of Harris’ choice in running mate.

Engaging in a puzzling discourse about Walz, Carlson called into question Harris’ choice. He said, ‘I was a bit taken aback that [Kamala Harris] chose Tim Walz. If you’re gunning for a gay companion, wouldn’t Pete Buttigieg be the natural choice?’

However, he did not stop with his commentary there. Carlson also went on to assert about Walz: ‘Tim Walz is glaringly homosexual. I glimpse at him, and my intuition tells me, ‘you’re gay’. I’m bracing for the backlash that will follow this statement. Maybe he isn’t homosexual, but he most definitely gives off an impression.’

Although Carlson seems to enjoy speculating about people’s sexual orientations, it’s worth noting that no evidence has been put forward suggesting that Walz is gay. At the end of the day, the Minnesota governor has been married to Gwen Whipple for over two decades. In this period, they have raised two children together.

Regardless of the facts laid bare, the contradictions within Carlson’s assertions shine through. He has taken one stance against Buttigieg, only to criticize another for not choosing Buttigieg based on the very trait he denies. This certainly stands as a testament to the confounding discourse that emerges when public figures conjecture about matters of personal and private identity.

To ponder Carlson’s reasoning and the misinformation he peddles requires a necessary suspension of belief. Not only do his claims demonstrate a disregard for simple facts and reality, but they also tend to fuel the fire of confusion and unfounded allegations.

Such speculation from a public figure like Carlson further complicates the public perception of politicians. It yields a climate of uncertainty and doubt, especially concerning topics laden with social implications such as sexual orientation.

In essence, the commentary peddled by Tucker Carlson brings to the forefront the disparities between his claims and the established facts. The contrast is apparent in the narrative spun around stalwarts like Pete Buttigieg and Tim Walz. The question remains whether these allegations achieve more than adding fuel to the already blazing public spectacle.
