Unprecedented Surge in Antisemitism Under Biden-Harris Regime; Are they Ignoring the Pleas of the Victimised?

The past year and a half has witnessed a distressing surge in antisemitic episodes across higher educational institutions, with Jewish learners confronting unprecedented harassment, physical abuse, and bullying. This trend has seen a rise in antisemitism finding its roots within these academic environments. The imperative of holding those responsible for triggering or engaging in violence has been brought to light by measures taken by the previous administration, including actions related to deportations and funding reductions.

From October 7, 2023, onward, Jewish learners on campuses have dealt with relentless verbal and physical abuses ranging from being subjected to physical attacks to enduring antisemitic slurs during unruly protests. They have been forced to walk through campuses where signs call for their demise, replacing the traditional thrill of pursuing academia with the apprehension for personal safety.

Universities have, unfortunately, shown a lack of commitment in safeguarding Jewish students and penalizing those who attack them, often under the guise of allowing free speech and providing platform for ‘alternative views’. This has only encouraged the unchecked proliferation of antisemitic hate speech and violent rhetoric.

Since the end of 2023, both Congress members and individuals from the Jewish community have advocated for stern actions to stop antisemitic occurrences and hold the ones orchestrating them responsible. However, their pleas have largely been ignored.

Throughout this ordeal, the Zionist Organization of America never ceased their quest to achieve justice for the victims of these episodes. Regardless of the current administration, this organization has continually championed the rights of those afflicted by antisemitism.

Helping to put up a strong defense against antisemitism, the previous administration took major strides including the implementation of sanctions for uncalled-for actions under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, deportation of foreign students exploiting their educational visas to incite hatred, and nurturing a culture of accountability and responsibility.

This committed stance against antisemitism emanated a powerful signal to both those involved in launching such attacks and those who encouraged them on campuses – that actions do indeed carry repercussions.

Although some opposition may tend to view these steps as contradictory to the freedom of speech, it is crucial to clarify that claiming the right to free speech doesn’t grant anyone the liberty to disseminate hate within college premises.

The negligence shown by university authorities in holding individuals accountable for such actions has relayed a precarious message to those willing to cause harm. This stark contrast between the current and the previous administration’s method to address antisemitism underscores the relevance of enforcing responsibility and consequences for hate-fueled actions.
