Prominent country music artist Zach Bryan’s partner, Brianna Chickenfry, is currently at the heart of a controversy, facing significant backlash online attributed to some potentially racially insensitive posts that have recently reappeared. Social media users started expressing their disapproval when the widely-followed Tea Talk Instagram account shared captures over the weekend, revealing the 25-year-old influencer possibly engaging in racially derogatory remarks in two comments made on Instagram about ten years back. ‘She’s my friend, relax,’ was the loosely interpreted meaning of one comment Chickenfry is assumed to have posted, and another presumed statement of hers read, ‘Still determined on cheerleading, pal.’ Allegedly, these comments comprised racially insensitive language.
The shared screenshots from the reputed Tea Talk Instagram revealed Brianna Chickenfry’s alleged use of the offensive term. Observers quickly started questioning why Chickenfry has not faced any consequences yet for her previous inappropriate content. ‘She’s unbearable. Why hasn’t she been taken to task yet?’ one Instagram visitor protested beneath the Tea Talk post.
Another added a casual observation, referring to the normalized use of the offensive term amongst a particular demographic. Additionally, another perplexed user questioned the necessity of such language, suggesting the replaced term would have retained the message’s meaning. One more concerned social media user highlighted the urgency to stop normalizing such practices.
The comments section saw a flurry of agitated fans arguing against the host, with a majority signalizing their support for her cancellation. An irritated Instagram user tagged her character as insufferable, reinforcing the initial condemnation. Another follower drew attention to the recent trend of public figures facing scrutiny for their supposed ethnocentric comments, referencing the notorious ‘It’ girl of TikTok, Alix Earle.
Web spaces such as the ‘AlixearleSnark’ subreddit have gathered supposed instances implicating the popular content creator in using racially offensive language during her early teen years. In a similar case, lifestyle influencer Brooke Schofield was also seen issuing apologies twice over the last seven days following the emergence of some of her older tweets considered racist.
As of now, Chickenfry, recognized mostly for her association with Barstool Sports, has not broken the silence on the allegations and the subsequent public backlash. Attempts to receive an official statement saw no immediate response from her management team or her, adding a veil of mystery to the ongoing controversy.
Even though Chickenfry couldn’t escape the offensive comments controversy, she has not made any public statements about the backlash. The public first heard of her romantic involvement with Bryan in July 2023, and their relationship has managed to stay under the radar for the most part.
Bryan and Chickenfry confirmed their coupling in July of the previous year, after Bryan ended his connection with Deb Peifer in May. They’ve largely kept their relationship out of the public eye, preferring to enjoy their personal life in private.
However, an incident in September 2023 shook this privacy when Bryan was apprehended in Oklahoma under unclear circumstances. Chickenfry didn’t hold back her thoughts over her partner’s legal trouble, taking it to her Instagram Story to share a snapshot.
