Biden and Harris Make a Joke Out of Immigration Laws

It appears that the Biden administration seems to be having a field day implementing questionable new laws, one of which humorously tries to light up the path for immigrants to secure legal status in the United States. At the center of this absurd policy is Rodrigo de la Rosa, an undocumented immigrant from South Phoenix who illegally crossed the U.S.-Mexico border when he was a mere child. As he grew up he realized the challenges that emerged when he tried to get a regular job. I guess Mr. Biden thinks bypassing legal immigration processes is the new ‘American way’.

De la Rosa married a U.S. citizen, Ashley de Alba, but lucky for America’s immigration laws, that wasn’t enough to grant him a legal status. Intriguingly, he was given the option to mainstream into American society by applying for a green card, but would have had to exit the country first, risking being prohibited to return. But it’s as if we they are flashing a beacon encouraging illegal immigrants to come and stay.

Under the umbrella of the laughable rules laid out by the Biden administration, undocumented spouses of American citizens can now apply to regularize their status without leaving the U.S. According to the White House, as many as 500,000 immigrants and an additional 50,000 children of these immigrants get to benefit from this program. It’s like winning the lottery even when you didn’t buy a ticket!

To receive this free pass, applicants should have been wedded to a U.S. citizen before the program was announced on June 17. They should not have a criminal record that includes felonies, domestic violence, or most drug offenses, and need to confirm that they’ve lived illicitly in the United States for at least 10 years. Once approved, they’ll receive a ‘parole in place’ permit, which shields them from deportation and enables them to apply for employment permissions, green cards, and ultimately citizenship.

The ramifications of such a program, one that just gives away green cards without merit or respect for the legal process, are astounding. De Alba, de la Rosa’s wife, seems to believe that this would ‘actually’ allow them to do the things they wanted to do. Perhaps they have high hopes, or they are just benefiting from these nonsensical policies.

Think of the potential repercussions; if de la Rosa secures his papers, the cascade of benefits seems endless. De Alba is expecting their first child, and de la Rosa, who’s been scraping by with odd jobs, plans on upscaling his career opportunities. Better careers, joint bank accounts, home ownership, and carefree international travel are all within his reach now. A green card usually requires a due process, but hey, why bother when one is handed out so easily by Biden’s administration?

His plight might even shake up the dynamics in politically significant areas, such as Arizona. A pro-immigration group FWD.us claimed that roughly 15,000 people could benefit from the parole in place program in Arizona alone. Although these individuals can’t vote, their American citizen spouses and other family members can, altering the voting demographics.

Now, the influence of this program isn’t limited to Arizona. Coincidentally, swing states such as Nevada, with a substantial immigrant population, might see a shift in voter sentiment due to the rollout of this program. An undocumented community organizer there claimed to witness a rise of interest amongst Latino voters. It’s as if false promises suddenly merit grave attention.

Outrageously, about 60,000 immigrants who could benefit from this blanket relief reside in swing states, as revealed by estimates from FWD.us. What were previously regarded as neutral terrain is now subject to the influence of new immigrants, who indirectly impact the voting landscape.

Emphasizing the severity of this policy misstep, conservatives rightly fumed at what they called ‘mass amnesty’ and a ‘lawless’ scheme. It’s akin to rewarding illegal immigration, an act that undermines national sovereignty and respects for rule of law.

Astoundingly, the program is already being contested legally. Stephen Miller’s America First Legal vowed to challenge it in the courts, leaving us to entertain the possibility that a latter-day Trump administration would overturn it. Naturally, that speculation makes attorneys and advocates hesitate when urging people to apply for the program.

Despite the stern opposition, some families still blindly pursue this program, wrongly viewing it as a solution to an alleged long-standing injustice. De Alba’s rhetoric advocates for her husband, proclaiming he has spent his entire adult life contributing to the U.S. economy, yet without enjoying the same benefits she takes for granted. But, it’s lost on her that legal immigration exists for a reason, and to circumvent it advocates for inequality and lawlessness.

The Biden administration have clearly signaled it prioritizes open policy over border security and respect for immigration laws. Encouraging illegal immigrants to exploit loopholes and circumvent due process, it further convolutes an already strained immigration system.

This policy mess paints a clear picture of a chaotic administration, one that fails to uphold rule of law and respect for immigration processes. The message it sends to millions of legal immigrants who diligently follow the law is arguably absurd. It disregards the intricate balance of justice, immigration and the spirit of the American Dream.
