Failed VP Harris Seeks Limelight Again in Hometown Safe Space

Kamala Harris, previously Vice President, appears to be seeking the spotlight once again, albeit within the safe confines of a San Francisco hotel. This is slated to be her introductory public appearance since the humiliation of last year’s election. It’s interesting to note that Harris has been dormant since her significant defeat to President Donald Trump last November.

So where is Harris making this unexpected emergence, you might ask? The organized event involved is a celebration for Emerge, a Democratic group priding itself on its efforts to foster aspiring women politicians. They’ve reportedly persuaded Harris to be their keynote speaker for the 20th anniversary of their existence.

The convoluted proclamation by Emerge’s leader, A’shanti Gholar, was that ‘Vice President Harris is the original Emerge woman’. This would apparently suggest that Harris is an embodiment of the organization’s values. A more cynical viewpoint might question the real substance behind such verbose praises.

Gholar further showered accolades on Harris, labeling her an ‘honorary co-founder’ of the organization. He suggested a mutual ambition to continue ‘fighting for a better future’. It seems Harris’ defeat last November has done little to dampen Gholar’s enthusiasm in her.

Emerge seems to have originated around the time Harris unsuccessfully ran for district attorney in San Francisco in 2002, implying a correlation between her failings and a felt necessity for an organization like theirs. Does this then indicate Harris as the starting point for Emerge’s journey? Few would argue with the timing.

Emerge boasts about over 1,200 of its graduates currently holding various government positions. To their credit, they allege that more than 6,500 women have undergone their training programs. A bold claim, but one wonders if these individuals won recognition on their own merit, or through the incessant pressure on identity politics.

Since her defeat in the last election, Harris has been strategically scarce, remaining mostly out of the public eye. One can’t help but wonder if this indicated some much-needed introspection or an anticipation about public reception due to her unspectacular stint in politics.

Her speech is scheduled perfectly just as Trump successfully concludes his first 100 days in office. For Harris, the timing couldn’t have been more impeccable – it’s almost as if they’re trying to claw back relevance by intruding on Trump’s success.

The grand event is apparently happening at exactly 7 p.m. on Wednesday, within the aged and opulent confines of the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. What’s notable is that Harris seems to be relying on the comfort of her hometown, instead of taking a more courageous stance.

Interestingly, Kamala isn’t the only one scheduled to speak at Emerge’s 20th-anniversary show. The guest list includes several others, such as New Mexico State Sen. Cindy Nava and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs. One cannot help but wonder if they’ll follow the same predictable rhetoric.

Their guest list also includes a certain Deja Foxx. Again, it seems like Emerge celebrates figures like Harris, whose political actions and ideology attract more controversy than commendations. Will they perpetuate the same unsuccessful ideas that led to their losses in the recent electoral season?

So here we are, witnessing, yet again, ex-Vice President Kamala Harris catapulting herself into a political arena that has relentlessly shown her rejection. The million-dollar question remains – will Harris bring anything new to the table or will this just be another attempt to salvage her battered reputation?
