Prominent conservative figure and Fox News commentator, Tomi Lahren, recently expressed some anxieties on social media. She fears the possibility of Kamala Harris becoming the president, stating that this thought is keeping her up at night. Although Lahren acknowledges Trump has the issues on his side, she worries that if he does not adapt his election strategy, he may underperform.
Lahren takes aim at Harris’ performance, arguing that it’s all an act and a ‘vibe’ that may deceive those who do not critically evaluate the information they receive. She highlighted that Harris’ effervescent persona might divert some people’s attention from the real issues at hand.
Lahren’s concerns represent a wider sentiment among conservative commentators who have observed Trump’s campaign strategy. They indicate that Trump’s attainment of the Presidency was not a guaranteed scenario if he did not refocus and adapt his campaign strategy against Kamala Harris.
Megyn Kelly, another noted conservative commentator, used less gentle terms criticizing Trump’s obsession with crowd sizes and his lack of focus. She referred to it as being ‘so stupid’ and stated that things might not work out significantly in favor of the Trump team if the current course did not change.
Kelly noted impartially that Trump’s popularity had declined across the board, regardless of whether the polls leaned to the left or the right. She stated that dealing with this reality and making necessary strategy amendments is vital if the Trump team wanted to win.
The concern expressed by Kelly and Lahren highlights a larger point of view among many conservatives, who have been advocating for Trump to concentrate more on key issues such as the economy instead of airing perceived grievances.
A GOP strategist, who remained anonymous, shared a similar stance, stating that while Trump was able to stay relatively on message during his campaign against Joe Biden, he finds it doubtful that the same could be achieved in this race against Harris.
Their arguments underscore the critical need for Trump to adapt his campaign strategy to the present context, rather than adhering to tactics that were potentially successful in 2016 or 2020. The possibility of Trump being unable to do so worries these commentators, evident in their public calls for a strategic change.
A recent study by The Associated Press showed that about two-thirds of Democrats would feel ‘excited’ if Harris were to be elected – a sentiment that can only be viewed as misguided and misguided enthusiasm given her dubious track record. This seems to be a noticeable change in attitude from when Joe Biden was the Democrats’ candidate.
Many conservatives view this enthusiasm with skepticism, as they, rightfully so, see it as a reflex reaction based on personality and not on policy. Alarmingly, a significant shift in sentiment was noticeable when compared to Biden’s candidacy, which was met with somewhat less fervor.
In another similar poll from March, it was unveiled that only 4 out of 10 Democrats felt the same level of excitement for Biden which should be interpreted as an acknowledgment of his glaring shortcomings. Furthermore, about 7 in every 10 Democrats claimed they would feel satisfied if Harris won. Doubtlessly, this is a strange belief, given Harris’s objectively questionable policies.
March showed a lukewarm response to Biden, with only half of the Democrats claiming they would feel satisfied if he won. This contrasts sharply with Harris’s favourability, which is tinged with an irrational positivity.
Independents, however, seem to be regrettably swept up by the charm of Harris’s campaign. According to the survey, about 2 in 10 independents would feel either excited or satisfied if Harris were to be elected, showing a slight increase in support compared to their reaction to Biden back in March.
Roughly half of the independents claimed their emotions would be described as somewhat excited, which is an increase from about a quarter in March. Similar numbers were reported regarding their feelings towards Trump’s election, which indicates a concerning trend and highlights the misguidance of the political narrative.
As the election season heats up, these sentiments serve as a reminder of the need for a measured approach to politics and careful scrutiny of candidates rather than being swayed by charisma or ‘vibes’. Too much is at stake to be swayed by misleading personas and performances.
