Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz has informed Congress of a “potential jurisdictional issue” preventing him from investigating whistleblower complaints alleging a cover-up in the criminal investigation of first son Hunter Biden.
Horowitz noted the issue in a letter to House Republicans after IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler said Justice Department leaders misled Congress, gave preferential treatment to the first son, and steered them away from probing President Biden’s role in shady foreign dealings.
“[M]y office has taken a number of steps to assess the information [Shapley] provided,” Horowitz wrote in a letter dated July 19 to three House committee chairmen and made public Tuesday.
Shapley’s legal team said that Justice Department rules require Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco to sign off for Horowitz to have the power to investigate certain alleged attorney misconduct.
“This is the issue DOJ OIG faces: They have to rely on approval from Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco in order to investigate attorney misconduct rather than the jurisdiction being the Office of Professional Responsibility’s,” tweeted Tristan Leavitt, president of the group Empower Oversight, which represents Shapley.

New Yorkers Are Fed Up With Top Dems’ Handling Of Migrant Crisis, Poll Shows
Over half of New Yorkers polled by Siena College indicated they would like the state to curb their massive influx of migrants.
58 percent of the poll’s voters said New Yorkers have alredy done enough to help the migrants and the state should try to slow down the flow. 79 percent of Republicans polled agreed with this position while only 48 percent of Democratic voters concurred.
Additionally, 82 percent of respondents said they felt the migrant crisis was either somewhat or very serious.
The poll showed decreasing approval numbers for Governor Kathy Hochul, who garnered only 46 percent total approval.

YouTube Algorithm Has A Left-Wing Bias, Researchers Find
YouTube’s video recommendations exhibit a bias toward left-leaning content in the United States, researchers at New York University Abu Dhabi recently discovered.
While the popular video platform aims to stop users from watching extreme content in general, it does so more aggressively when it comes to right-leaning extreme content, according to the study published in academic journal PNAS Nexus. Additionally, YouTube’s algorithm defaults to suggesting left-leaning content to new users who have yet to watch any videos.
“We find that while the algorithm pulls users away from political extremes, this pull is asymmetric, with users being pulled away from Far Right content stronger than from Far Left,” the researchers state.
“Furthermore, we show that the recommendations made by the algorithm skew left even when the user does not have a watch history,” the researchers state.

Documents recently obtained from the National Institutes of Health suggest public health officials used inaccurate information and misrepresented medical research to advance their policy objective that masks prevent severe COVID-19 and virus transmission—despite opposing scientific evidence received from experts.
In a recently obtained letter (pdf) sent in November 2021 to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), top epidemiologist Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, and seven colleagues informed the agency it was promoting flawed data and excluding data that did not reinforce their narrative.
The letter warned the agency that misrepresenting data on trusted websites such as the CDC and the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network—jointly created by the CDC and Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)—would “damage the credibility of science,” endanger public trust by “misrepresenting the evidence,” and give the public “false expectations” masking would protect them from the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
“We believe the information and recommendations as provided may actually put an individual at increased risk of becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2 and for them to experience a serious or even life-threatening infection,” Mr. Osterhom wrote.
“We do not agree that the evidence for their efficacy has strengthened throughout the pandemic, as the website suggests,” Mr. Osterholm said. “In fact, contrary to the conclusion on this website, the November 2020 Cochrane Review cited states this: ‘Compared with wearing no mask, wearing a mask may make little to no difference in how many people caught a flu-like illness (9 studies; 3,507 people); and probably makes no difference in how many people have flu confirmed by a laboratory test (6 studies; 3,005 people).’”

Poll: Most Republicans Trust Trump over Other Candidates to Handle Crime
Most Republican likely primary voters trust former President Donald Trump to handle the issue of crime rather than his GOP competitors, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Monday found.
The survey asked respondents, “Which candidate do you trust most on the issue of crime and law enforcement?”
Most GOP likely voters, 51 percent, chose Trump, followed by ten percent who said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and seven percent who said anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswmay. All others listed saw three percent support or less. Notably, Trump’s figure increased among “very likely” voters, ticking up to 54 percent who trust him to handle the issue of crime the most.

Kari Lake Files Motion to Dismiss Maricopa County Official’s Suit Against Her
Kari Lake, the 2022 Arizona Republican nominee for governor, filed a motion on Monday to dismiss Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer’s defamation lawsuit against her.
Richer’s complaint, which he filed in June, accuses Lake of falsely stating that he intentionally sabotaged the election in the county.
Printers malfunctioned at up to 59 percent of polling locations on Election Day in November in Maricopa County, the Phoenix metro area.
Lake contended that she has every right under the First Amendment to critique Richer’s handling of his job.
“Stephen Richer is an elected official. His unlawful attempt to abuse our legal system in order to insulate himself from criticism of his awful job performance establishes a dangerous precedent in our nation’s history,” she said.
“Richer’s attack on the First Amendment would have a chilling effect on Americans’ ability to speak out and criticize public officials, government officials, and politicians. For the good of our Republic, this case should be rejected by our legal system,” Lake stated.

Federal Judge Says Texas Can’t Reject Mail Ballots with Wrong Voter ID
The ID requirement was enacted in 2021 as part of a comprehensive election integrity measure.
A federal judge ruled that Texas election officials cannot reject mail-in ballots with wrong or missing identification numbers.
U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez found that the voter ID requirement violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Rodriguez agreed with the U.S. Department of Justice that providing a correct voter ID is “not material in determining whether voters are qualified under Texas law to vote or cast a mail ballot.”
Christine Welborn, executive director of Advancing Integrity, says the ID requirement “is for the protection of the voter as well as the integrity of the vote.”
“We must be able to determine that the person voting is the actual registered voter,” said Welborn. “In-person voting requires an ID and a signature; voting from mail should do the same.”
The voter ID requirement was enacted as part of a comprehensive election integrity measure passed by the Texas Legislature in 2021 as Senate Bill 1.
Texas already required in-person voters to show ID to verify that they are the person listed on the voter rolls.
Adding voter ID to mail-in ballots extended the same safeguard to voting by mail.

“I came here at 5am knowing that the queues will be long but four hours later I am still to vote. ZEC must do better,” Cynthia Muvirimirwa, 34, a school teacher said while standing in a queue nine miles (15km) north of central Harare.
Elderly people who queued early on Wednesday had to return home from a polling station in Mbare, one of the capital’s most populous suburbs as a result of the delays.
“Authorities must look into this issue. Now we have the elderly waiting for hours without casting their vote,” Isaac Matara, 40, said.
The commission admitted there had been delays in printing ballot papers and called for calm. “We urge all voters at polling stations where delays have been experienced to remain patient,” it said in a statement.

The ancient Greeks invented democracy, and in Athens many government officials were selected through sortition — a random lottery from a pool of candidates. In the United States, we already use a version of a lottery to select jurors. What if we did the same with mayors, governors, legislators, justices and even presidents?

Nothing can stop what is coming.
Nothing.
This election was not about fixing the economy, trade, borders, military, protecting our children etc. all so another corrupt politician or ‘insider’ can simply undo it [band-aid].
This was not simply another 4-year election, but, a crossroads in the history of our civilization that will determine whether or not, WE, THE PEOPLE, reclaim control over our gov’t.
