IRS whistleblower turns tables on Hunter Biden lawyers over leak allegation as Congress seeks probe

The IRS whistleblower at the forefront of the Hunter Biden controversy on Wednesday flipped the script on his defense attorneys by filing a formal declaration to Congress rejecting claims he leaked secured tax documents and claiming the charges were “another attack in retaliation” for choosing to expose the corruption.

Democrats and Hunter’s defense team have claimed that IRS Supervisory Criminal Investigative Agent Gary Shapley may have been the originator of a story published in October 2022 about agents’ worries regarding the handling of the case. Shapley sent an open letter to House and Senate committees claiming to be so certain he hadn’t leaked the information that he would allow the Washington Post and journalists Devlin Barrett and Perry Stein to publish any evidence they may have.

Shapley’s response read, “I was not the source for the October 6, 2022 Washington Post article, nor have I ever had any contact with Barrett or Stein. Because I am so confident of this fact, I hereby authorize the Washington Post and/or journalists Devlin Barrett, Perry Stein, or any other Washington Post reporter to release any communications directly or indirectly to or from me.

“In this regard, I am willing to waive any purported journalistic privilege and/confidentiality that would have arisen had I been a source for the Washington Post. I have never leaked confidential taxpayer information,” he continued.

“The unsolicited letter came just days after Hunter Biden lawyer Abbe Lowell accused Shapley and another whistleblower of being “disgruntled” and making “false allegations” in their interviews with Congress and insinuated the whistleblowers could be behind the October 2022 Washington Post article,” according to John Solomon writing for Just the News.

“Leaking to the public in an effort to affect the result of an investigation and persuade prosecutors to file charges is a tried-and-true practice of resentful agents who believe they know better than seasoned prosecutors and disagree with those prosecutors’ timing or conclusions. Happens frequently,” Lowell charged.

“Leading GOP senators and the chairmen of House committees joined forces on Wednesday to call for an investigation by the body of Special Counsel, the government’s principal whistleblower protection body, into what they claimed were blatant retaliations against Shapley. This back and forth ensued,” Solomon added.

Shapley told Just the News in an interview last week that he was passed over for a promotion, kicked off the Hunter Biden case and had a major tax-recovery project canceled since he blew the whistle.

“The importance of protecting whistleblowers from unlawful retaliation and informing whistleblowers about their rights under the law cannot be understated. After all, it is the law,” said Sens. Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, in a letter to the Office of Special Counsel.

“Accordingly, we request that you immediately investigate all allegations of retaliation against these IRS whistleblowers and all violations related to the IRS’s failure to include the anti-gag provision as required by law,” they continued. “In addition, we request that you immediately seek the appropriate disciplinary actions against all who engaged in unlawful conduct against these whistleblowers.”

Hunter was allegedly recommended for many felonies by the IRS, according to whistleblowers, according to House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-MO).

The probe into Hunter Biden’s dealings began in November 2018 as a result of a related IRS investigation.

“The investigation was in the ordinary course of work at the IRS. It was not ordered by any individual, any chairman or any political entity,” according to Rep. Smith.

Hunter Biden was recommended to face the following charges by the IRS:

Tax evasion or deception attempts which are felonies.
False statements or fraud which are also felonies.
Willful neglect to provide information, file returns, or pay taxes.

The estimated $2.2 million in unreported global income tax from Ukraine, Romania, and China, totaling $17.3 million from 2014 to 2019, is covered by these tax offenses.

“Mr. Biden personally received $8.3 million,” Rep. Smith continued.

Hunter received a preferential deal from Joe Biden’s crooked DOJ instead of being charged with felonies for tax evasion and making false statements to the government. Two misdemeanor charges against Hunter for unpaid taxes from 2017 and 2018 were brought against him.

Late in June, news website Trending Politics published fresh details about the dubious international strategy that Hunter Biden used to cheat millions of dollars in taxes.

In the House Ways and Means Committee’s revealed testimony of Hunter Biden’s business dealings, the second whistleblower, an anonymous lead IRS case agent, detailed the intricate tax evasion plot allegedly involving Hunter Biden.

According to the whistleblower, Hunter intentionally avoided paying millions in taxes. The complex scheme reportedly included the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, where Hunter was a board member, and an associate from a Chinese business.

In 2014, when Joe Biden was serving his second term as vice president in charge of Ukraine policy, the Ukrainian natural gas company put Hunter Biden on its board of directors. The whistleblower stated that Hunter Biden received $666,667 from Burisma for little or no work, and instead of reporting it as income and paying taxes on it, he put the money into a Chinese firm run by one of his associates. The associate then “loaned” the money back to Hunter Biden.

This is yet another method the Biden Crime Family defrauded the IRS and concealed its nefarious international business dealings. And they’ll probably get away with it unless Republicans start the impeachment process right away.
