Prioritize These Top Additions for Week 8 Fantasy Football

As we approach a week free of bye-rounds, your fantasy lineup should almost be at full capacity. However, this doesn’t suggest that there are no opportunities for enriching your team through waiver wire additions. Each week, we unveil a selection of readily available fantasy players intended for immediate action. Here are your top priority additions for Week 8…

Turning the spotlight to wide receivers and tight ends, Josh Downs of the Indianapolis Colts is a fantastic choice (36% rostered). We’ve endlessly touted Downs as a valuable pick, yet fantasy players seem hesitant to claim him. Downs, an incredibly talented rookie who primarily operates from the slot for the Colts, consistently shows his worth. On one occasion, he caught five passes, contributing to his overall performance.

In his last performance against the Browns, Downs racked up 125 yards and a touchdown, marking his second successive game with a touchdown. During his final two years at UNC, Downs was an enormous contributor, with 195 catches and 19 times crossing to the end zone. In every game this season, Downs has received over 70% of the snaps, illustrating that his playtime is anything but lacking. Looking ahead, he will face the Saints next week, followed by the Panthers. Recommended FAB on a $100 budget: $17

Now, it’s time to consider Taysom Hill of the New Orleans Saints, the familiar target as the season progresses (9% rostered). The demanding position of tight end often permits Hill’s weekly potential to shine through. In the past couple of games, Hill’s involvement has surged as if he’s an integral part of the receiving unit, moving beyond the role of a sporadic wildcat role-playing tight end.

In the previous two matches, Hill garnered 13 targets, successfully catching 11 for 99 yards, maintaining his relevance with his consistent rushing endeavors. During his battle against Jacksonville on Thursday night, he scored an effortless 1-yard touchdown from one of his five runs. If you’re worn out by the tight end dilemma, Taysom Hill may just be your solution. He is yet to be claimed in over 90% of Yahoo’s leagues. FAB: $6

Another tight end worth consideration is Dalton Kincaid of the Buffalo Bills (42% rostered). It took him a moment, but Kincaid’s breakthrough finally occurred, outshining Dawson Knox during Sunday’s match. Both Knox and Kincaid had substantial play times (45 and 43 snaps), so playing time shouldn’t be a concern. With a pattern of consistency, brighter days are surely ahead for Kincaid. FAB: $6

Looking at running backs, Los Angeles Rams’ Darrell Henderson Jr. reemerges as a potential choice (25% rostered). It’s been a rollercoaster with Henderson obtaining and relinquishing the main rushing role for the Rams over time. After a short stint with the Jaguars and the XFL, Henderson returned to the Rams following Kyren Williams’ IR move.

Henderson found himself back in the lead against the Steelers last Sunday, where he ran 18 times for 61 yards, adding a touchdown and a catch for 5 yards. Though not vastly superior to Royce Freeman (12-66-0 on Sunday), Henderson seems to be the Rams’ current lead back, likely to hold this position until Williams comes back, despite a likely temporary return to the practice squad on Monday. FAB: $21

If we shift focus to Tyjae Spears of the Tennessee Titans (42% rostered), he proves to be a viable asset, despite the team’s stagnant offense. Although they rank 26th in the league in yardage and scoring, Spears, a rookie from Tulane, has shown admirable consistency since his college days. His explosive impact is felt almost every week.

With a snap-share over 50% in five of his six games this season, Spears stands as an admirable complement to Derrick Henry. Spears has caught 15 balls on 20 targets this season, averaging an impressive 6.1 yards per touch. He proves to be a flexible option for your fantasy team, holding value particularly as the next potential man behind Henry. FAB: $8

Let’s not overlook Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals when considering quarterbacks (42% rostered). Last week we urged you to secure Murray before he returned from IR when his availability was three-quarters across Yahoo leagues. This week you might need a bigger portion of your budget, but it should be worth that investment.

It’s been 10 months since Murray’s ACL injury and it’s plausible that the Cardinals’ new coaches may want to evaluate him in the second half of the season, regardless of their current standings. Reports suggest Murray’s return might happen around Weeks 9 or 10. Although he might not instantly replicate his 2020 performance, his fantasy potential is undeniable. With a capable receiving corps at his disposal, Murray is a worthy roster stash, even in shallow 1-QB leagues. FAB: $14

Lastly, the Miami Dolphins is a decent pick for team defense (48% rostered). When streaming defenses, pass attempts are usually pursued, as sacks, turnovers and touchdowns contribute to fantasy scoring. A flawed quarterback in a high-passing situation can be the perfect cocktail for D/ST points.

This brings us to a fantastic opportunity in Week 8 with the Dolphins hosting the Patriots. Miami’s defense may not have been exemplary so far, but if Mac Jones is forced into frequent pass attempts, favorable scoring may likely occur. The Dolphins D makes a confident choice for Week 8, but likely a discard before facing KC the following week. FAB: $1
