Shocking New Twitter Logo Unveiled – Outrage Over What It Looks Like

Social media users reacted strongly when Elon Musk introduced the new logo for Twitter, which he bought for $44 million. Time will tell if the rebrand will succeed or fail.

The seemingly abrupt rebranding of Twitter to “X” that followed a brief announcement made over the weekend was far from an unplanned action, as many claimed. Even if it was a part of the world’s richest man’s route to success, the change that eliminated the blue bird caused “RIP Twitter” to become a trend among both doomsayers and admirers.

According to previous reports, Musk had issued a warning that “And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” and he urged participation in logo creation to hasten the transformation.

His requirements seemed to have been satisfied on Sunday when the company’s San Francisco office building’s side lit up and the platform’s emblem transformed to a stylised X. The platform’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, joined the excitement when she posted, “Lights. “X, camera!”

“It’s an exceptionally rare thing — in life or in business — that you get a second chance to make another big impression,” she posted prior. “Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.”

“X is the future state of unlimited interactivity — centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking — creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine,” Yaccarino declared. “There’s absolutely no limit to this transformation.”

From the time he first started X.com, which through a merger subsequently became PayPal, the billionaire’s biographers have recorded his numerous uses of the letter X in marketing.

“Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future” author Ashlee Vance told NPR that “everyone tried to talk him out of naming the company that back then because of the sexual innuendos, but he really liked it and stuck with it.”

Twitter is rebranding to X and I can’t help but ask Y.

Musk had repurchased X.com in 2017, just prior to purchasing Twitter in 2022, and had tweeted at that point, “Thanks PayPal for allowing me to buy back X.com! No plans right now, but it has great sentimental value to me.”

As he and artist Grimes, whose legal name is Claire Elise Boucher, had named their first child X Æ A-12, most frequently referring to the boy as X. And according to Vulture Magazine, in March of this year they renamed their second child “Y.”

Some people were intrigued by Musk’s plan to build something novel because the owner of the social media network had hinted at it when he bought Twitter: “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app.”

Some pondered what an “everything app” could mean.

Twitter user KanekoaTheGreat posted:

In 1999, @elonmusk co-founded http://X.com, aiming to revolutionize banking online. A merger with Confinity in 2000 paved the way for PayPal’s emergence.

Fast forward to 2022, Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion, driven by his mission to revive freedom of speech on the internet and fulfill http://X.com’s original vision.

In 2023, Twitter will merge into http://X.com, birthing the “everything app” – a visionary platform seamlessly blending banking, payments, social media, encrypted messages, voice calls, and video services worldwide.

With Twitter’s communication prowess and http://X.com’s cutting-edge financial services, users will be able to switch effortlessly between social interactions and financial transactions, transforming how we manage money and connect with others.

All on a platform that fiercely champions freedom of speech.

In Elon’s own words, “If done right, X would serve people’s financial needs to such a degree that over time it would become maybe half of the global financial system or by far the biggest financial institution except not in the way that people are use to thinking about banks.

The most efficient database for money with the least amount of fraud. Everything is real-time.

If it involves money, it can be dealt with seamlessly in one location. In addition, you got the social media element, which is also people sharing information of various kinds, whether it’s text, video, picture, or voice.

There is a lot of potential to make a product that is very compelling that combines all of these things.”

Another user questioned the change.

Why burn a established brand?
He could have done it all under the Twitter Brand. Seems like a waste.

Author Layah Heilpern posed the best question:

“So Elon Musk is turning twitter into an all in one app. What facebook tried to do 10 years ago. An app for everything, shopping, payments, social media etc. Sounds similar to China’s WeChat. Why are billionaires so obsessed with controlling every aspect of peoples lives?”

Another user likened Musk’s desire for control to the CCP.

“The thing is the app sounds well and good on paper. But really he’s just copying WeChat, China’s version of the “everything app” An app used to control and monitor it’s population. Will Musk do the same? All I’m saying is… “no one man should have all that power” – Ye”
