South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem Deploys National Guard to Assist Texas in Border Security

The dire situation unfolding at the southern border has spiraled out of control during President Joe Biden’s tenure, with millions of illegal migrants inundating the United States annually.

In a bold move to address this pressing challenge, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas took decisive action with the launch of Operation Lone Star, mobilizing Texas National Guard troops to fortify the border and relocating migrants from border communities to sanctuary cities such as New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

In the wake of a recent confrontation with federal authorities near Eagle Pass, Texas, Governor Abbott appealed to governors nationwide for assistance. Responding to this urgent call, Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota swiftly offered support, citing the border crisis as tantamount to a war zone necessitating military intervention.

Governor Noem’s office announced the deployment of 60 National Guard troops on a rotational basis over the next three months to bolster efforts in stemming the influx of illegal immigrants, drug cartels, and human trafficking across the Rio Grande.

In her address to the state legislature, Governor Noem underscored the federal government’s interference in states’ efforts to uphold immigration laws, particularly highlighting a recent Supreme Court ruling against Texas’ border security measures. Emphasizing the need for decisive action, Governor Noem expressed determination to empower South Dakota’s soldiers to staunchly defend against unlawful incursions rather than facilitate them.

Governor Noem’s commitment to aiding Texas in this endeavor echoes the resolve of over a dozen other states, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

With over 7.2 million illegal immigrants having breached the southern border since February alone, surpassing the populations of 36 states, the ramifications of President Biden’s border policies are felt far beyond the border states, reaching as far as the Dakotas. This crisis demands a united front and decisive action to protect the sovereignty and security of our nation.
