Tim Scott Gets Up in the Middle of Tucker Carlson Interview, Explains Why

Sen. Tim Scott spent some time on Saturday to explain why he abruptly stood up during an interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson at a GOP candidate debate the day before.

While attending the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa, Scott spoke with Carlson for around 30 minutes about a number of subjects, including the mayhem at the U.S.-Mexico border and the current fentanyl problem. Scott stood for most of the conversation as Carlson sat.

Scott revealed his reasoning for standing when Carlson questioned if he was concerned that the United States may start a war with Russia as a result of President Joe Biden’s approval for the military to call up reserve forces.

“My mama wanted a preacher, so I’m going to stand up and do it the Southern way,” Scott said, according to the Western Journal.

Carlson responded by jokingly yelling, “Preach!” at the South Carolina Republican.

“Hallelujah!” Scott responded as he then addressed the audience like a preacher.

“Tucker’s face cracking me up as Scott gets up and starts pacing, lol,” one Twitter user noted.

“Tucker’s face when he gets up to talk. ‘Where’s this guy going? I had more questions,’” said another.

“The way Tim Scott stood up and walked around to speak in a ‘preaching’ manner during this sit down interview just seemed a little weird & slightly disrespectful towards Tucker,” another wrote.

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, former vice president Mike Pence, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, were among the other GOP candidates Carlson spoke with.

According to the Daily Signal, Carlson once asked Haley a direct question that “caught her off guard.”

The former Fox News personality questioned during a discussion on climate change and energy policy, “Who blew up the Nord Stream pipeline?”

In September 2022, a segment of the pipeline that transported natural gas from Russia to Germany beneath the Baltic Sea was destroyed by explosion.

“I don’t know, I mean, do you?” She said lightheartedly.

Carlson joked that there was evidence to support the Biden administration’s guilt, but the Pentagon, the White House, and other federal agencies have all denied any involvement.

The topic of the earlier conversation was the environment and the natural resources required to fuel the American economy.

“You dealt with this question all the time at the UN, the question of, ‘how does the world respond to climate change?’” he began. “But there are really two questions. One, is the climate changing…but the deeper question is why? We had glaciers 10,000 years ago, the climate has always changed dramatically since the formation of the Earth.

“Do you think humans are causing this change, and do you think we can stop or slow it down? Is there actual evidence?” he asked directly.

Before responding, Haley paused for a moment to catch her breath.

“I mean….I don’t…” she began.

“Honestly, I don’t know how much is being changed or not, as much as I know that putting electric vehicles on the road is not the answer to what you’re doing,” she finally said.

The U.S. currently having to travel “hat in hand” to Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Venezuela to obtain oil, she continued, is the bigger issue.

“We should be energy independent, no matter what. I don’t care what anybody says about the environment,” Haley said. “This is a national security threat of not having energy independence.”

Election integrity and federal government reform were other topics of conversation between Carlson and Haley.
