President Donald Trump traveled to Clive, Iowa, on Tuesday and delivered a rally-style address celebrating America’s economic rebound and announcing a major manufacturing victory for U.S. workers.
Speaking before a packed crowd at the Horizon Events Center just outside Des Moines, Trump revealed that John Deere, the agricultural equipment giant, will relocate some of its manufacturing operations from Japan to North Carolina. The move includes building a new excavator factory and establishing a large distribution center in Indiana.
“John Deere is coming home,” Trump said to roaring applause. “They’re moving production out of Japan and bringing it right back to America. That’s what winning looks like.”
The president framed the announcement as a result of his administration’s aggressive push to rebuild domestic manufacturing and restore U.S. energy and agriculture independence. Trump emphasized that Iowa’s farmers have long been the backbone of the nation’s economy and promised them that his administration would continue cutting red tape and rolling back Biden-era regulations.
“I terminated the so-called Diesel Exhaust Fluid requirement, saving family farmers more than $1 billion a year,” Trump said, referring to changes at the Environmental Protection Agency under his leadership. He also took aim at burdensome electric vehicle mandates, calling them “insane” and pledging to protect gas-powered engines and ethanol subsidies.
Trump’s speech was largely focused on economic policy and featured two American service workers who praised his plan to eliminate taxes on tips. The president told the crowd that thanks to his tax cuts, Americans would see refund checks unlike anything they received under Biden.
“Thanks to our tax cuts, millions of Americans will soon receive record-setting tax refunds—an average of more than $1,000. Think of that. $1,000 compared to last year,” he said.
He also addressed the ongoing immigration crackdown, which has faced left-wing backlash following the death of anti-ICE protester Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Trump defended law enforcement and called for patriotic loyalty from those entering the country.
“They have to show that they can love our country, not hate our country. They have to show that they’re not going to blow up our shopping centers,” Trump said. “They have to be proud — not like Ilhan Omar.”
The speech in Iowa marked another campaign-style swing for the president, who is doubling down on his America First message ahead of the midterms. With major corporations returning operations to U.S. soil and immigration enforcement ramping up, Trump made clear that his second term is about restoring strength and pride across all sectors of American life.
