WATCH: Hamas Official Pledges to Repeat the Actions of October 7th Massacre Until Israel is Destroyed

A video recently emerged, throwing light on the intentions and severity of a senior Hamas executive, Ghazi Hamad. During an exchange on Lebanon’s LBC TV, he didn’t shy away from expressing Hamas’s desire to perpetuate the same type of operations that greatly distressed southern Israel on October 7th.

These assaults resulted in more than 1,400 Israeli and 32 American deaths, marking a grim chapter in the region’s history.

This harrowing footage, made available through the commendable efforts of the Middle East Media Research Institute, exhibits the inhumanity of the Hamas radicals in their dedicated pursuit of annihilating the Israeli populace.

Hamad initiated his segment with a controversial statement, ‘Israel is a country that has no place on our land. The removal of that country is necessary because it poses a military, security, and political threat to the Arab and Islamic nations and it needs to be eradicated. We stand by this assertion, without a hint of regret. Our resolve is clear.

We need to instruct Israel a lesson, and there may be further lessons too. We have the courage, the strength, and the abilities to engage.’ His reference here was to the October 7th strike.

‘In our operations, we do not wish to inflict damage on civilians, but there are complexities on the ground.’ In attempting to explain their actions on that fateful day, Hamad referenced a scenario where a gathering including civilians had been located across 40 kilometers.

This stands in stark contrast to vivid evidence indicating that Hamas systematically targeted populations with civilian members.

Israel’s existence, according to the Hamas functionary, is ‘illogical.’ He stressed their stance, ‘Israel’s presence can be attributed to all the sorrow, bloodshed, and tears. The burden of guilt lies not with us, but with Israel.’ He made an impassioned argument, casting his group as the casualties of the occupation.

Emphasizing on their position, Hamad proclaimed, ‘We are the aggrieved party of the occupation, pure and simple. Nobody has the right to hold us accountable for our actions,’ and further added, ‘All our actions are merited.’ Opposition to Israel will persist, as Hamad insists, if they don’t receive any pushback.

This idea of continuing opposition has been echoed by another key member of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh. He has encouraged Palestinian ‘women, children, and elderly’ to brace for sacrifices in Gaza due to the ongoing ground activities of Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

Haniyeh implores everyone – global citizens of conscience, ally nations across the world, and Arab countries sharing brotherly ties – to bring their influence to bear in every direction and every platform to restrain the aggression against Gaza.

The Hamas leader has appealed to cease the hostility towards Gaza and halt the war against its inhabitants, including women, children, elderly, and targeting religious institutions, educational centers, and residential areas. In his entreaty, he stated, ‘This savage offense must cease. This repeated tragedy needs to end.’

Haniyeh has expressed his sentiment regarding the cost of confrontation time and again, ‘The blood of the women, children, and elderly… this blood does not call for your aid; it’s us who require this blood.’ The implicit nuance here is that the loss and suffering of their own people become a source of strength to regenerate their revolutionary fervor.

These hardships, he suggests, incite resilience in them, arouse their spirit of challenge and motivate them to keep advancing. His sentiments ring with a sense of grittiness and resolve – a call to his people to see the struggle as instrumental in achieving their goals.

Despite how these words resonate within their circles, those outside may feel differently. The loss of innocent human life is a universal tragedy, and all measures should be taken to prevent this, rather than encouraging it under the cover of revolutionary spirit and resilience.

The collective responsibility for these clashes might be shared by all parties involved, but it’s the people who bear the brunt of the suffering. They are caught in the crossfire, removed from the decision-making processes that decide their fate.

While this narrative shared by the Hamas seniors might resonate with some, it’s important to maintain that dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for civilian lives should be the pillars of any conflict engagement. War cost lives, homes, and hope – quite a harrowing price for any nation to pay.

The power dynamics of the world may shift with the changing narratives – yet, at the end of the day, it’s vital to be reminded of the futility of violence. Leaders, regardless of where they stand, should foster peace, cooperation, and empathy, as these are the foundations of any prosperous civilization.

Ultimately, the hope and pursuit should be peace and harmony in the region – a time when the sacrifice of the innocent is no longer be seen as a necessary propulsion for political gain, but rather as an obsolete strategy best left behind in the pages of history.
